Before learning how to draw cars: some fun facts before starting sketching!

- In 1915, half the cars in the world were the Model T from Ford.

- In 1925, a car would cost 250$ to buy.

- A car can cost around 6000 to 8000$ each year to own & operate.

how-to-draw-cars-step-1 This tutorial will help you learn how to draw cartoon cars effectively. I've choosen a smart as the model. With gas prices going higher and higher every day, you might see these little models more often in the future!

What should you look for when drawing a car? Wheels (5)(7), bumpers (4)(1), windshield (3) and doors (6). Yes...I know! It's pretty basic. So, let's continue and take a look at the shape of our little vehicle...

how-to-draw-cars-step-2 This car is really different from your normal average day-to-day machine. Tiny hood, only four windows and two small doors.

Notice how the body of the car is made of two irregular rectangles while the wheels are made of two circles.

This model is perfect for your first try if you wish to start drawing a simple car in no time!

Let's try to draw a more conventional car this time! Start by sketching two rectangles for the body and the roof. Notice the broken line near the hood. In the third step, draw a more precise outline of your car.

Now it's time to add windows. The reason for adding the windows now is to help us determine where the door will be. Once the door is drawn, you can easily add the wheels and the two bumpers. Finish your drawing by adding details and colors.

You can start drawing a car by using a simpler model (1)(2) if you wish. Don't hesitate to distort some aspect of your car to create a new effect with it (4).

Drawing a nice looking vehicle requires patience and practice. You can also replace the headlights with eyes and the front bumper with a mouth to give personality to your car!
